Resource Centre First human study on L-theanine absorption

Unilever is at the forefront of research on Nutrition and Health, one such study is that of L-theanine absorption. Considerable evidence exists regarding the stimulating and cognitive effects of tea, related to its unique contents of both caffeine and L-theanine. For the first time, researchers from Unilever R&D Vlaardingen have assessed the rate and extent of L-theanine uptake in humans. The results will help to design ongoing studies on the mental benefits of L-theanine and tea, creating a credible body of work from which nutritionists and health care professionals can draw evidence-based healthy living tips.
