Cardiovascular disease includes heart disease, heart attacks, stroke, and atherosclerosis, and falls into the category of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) i.e. these are non-infectious diseases and are mainly brought about as a result of to our modern lifestyles, nutrition and diets. This category also includes cancers.


Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the world, and the number two killer in South Africa – second only to HIV/AIDS.
